Power Through Performance

ECU remapping and tuning for agricultural machinery, construction equipment, commercial vehicles and cars. Built for real work: usable torque, smooth drivability and efficiency-focused improvements.

Sectors

Choose your sector for a detailed breakdown of what we can do.

Agricultural Machinery

Torque and response for field work, PTO loads, transport and steady-load efficiency.

Agricultural Details

Construction Equipment

Low-RPM pull and productivity for dig/haul cycles with a reliability-first approach.

Construction Details

Commercial Vehicles & Cars

Smoother drivability for vans/trucks/cars, payload work and repeat-route economy (vehicle dependent).

Commercial Details

Services Explained

Clear breakdown of what each service does and how it helps.

ECU Remapping

Recalibrates engine control software to improve torque delivery and drivability under load.

  • More usable low/mid RPM torque
  • Smoother throttle response
  • Torque shaped for driveline safety

Fuel Efficiency Tuning

Targets efficiency by improving torque delivery so the engine works less for the same job.

  • Reduced throttle effort
  • Less gear hunting (vehicle dependent)
  • Results vary by workload and condition.

EGR Support

EGR faults can cause warning lights, smoke, hesitation and rough running. We diagnose and advise solutions.

  • Fault code diagnosis support
  • Live-data checks
  • Restore drivability

DPF Support

DPF issues can trigger limp mode and rising fuel use. We assess soot/load and advise the best route.

  • DPF load checks & diagnostics
  • Regen troubleshooting
  • Usage-based advice

AdBlue / SCR Support

AdBlue faults often come from sensors, injectors or control issues. We diagnose and advise reliable solutions.

  • SCR/AdBlue fault diagnosis
  • Sensor plausibility checks
  • System fault support

Power Tuning

When extra performance is needed, calibrated responsibly for smooth delivery.

  • Performance where appropriate
  • No aggressive spikes
  • Matched to workload & traction

Stage 1, Stage 2 & Stage 3 Remapping

Every vehicle is different. The supporting modifications required for a Stage 1, Stage 2 or Stage 3 calibration depend on the engine, turbo, fuel system, ECU, gearbox, clutch, cooling system, exhaust and intended power output.

Stage 1 Remap

A Stage 1 remap is generally designed to work with a standard, mechanically healthy vehicle without requiring major hardware modifications.

Typical checks before a Stage 1 remap include:

  • Engine and gearbox health
  • Turbocharger condition
  • DPF / GPF condition where fitted
  • EGR system operation
  • AdBlue / SCR system operation where fitted
  • Cooling system
  • Fuel system
  • Clutch and dual-mass flywheel condition
  • Diagnostic fault codes
  • Boost and air-intake system
  • General service condition

Usually no hardware modifications are required

A Stage 1 calibration can normally be carried out on a standard vehicle, provided the vehicle is suitable and in good mechanical condition.

Stage 2 Remap

Stage 2 is intended for vehicles with supporting hardware modifications. The exact requirements vary considerably between engines.

Common Stage 2 modifications may include:

  • Performance air intake
  • High-flow panel or induction filter
  • Upgraded intercooler
  • Larger or freer-flowing intercooler pipework
  • Turbo-back or sports exhaust system where appropriate
  • High-flow downpipe where legally permitted
  • Upgraded charge pipes
  • Upgraded diverter / blow-off valve on applicable turbocharged petrol engines
  • Upgraded clutch where the original clutch cannot safely handle the additional torque
  • Improved engine cooling where required

The ECU calibration should then be matched to the modifications fitted to the vehicle.

Stage 2 does not mean every modification is required on every vehicle. Requirements depend on the engine, turbocharger, fuel system, transmission and intended power output.

Stage 3 Remap

Stage 3 is generally aimed at vehicles with significant performance hardware upgrades and is normally a more comprehensive build.

Depending on the vehicle and power target, modifications may include:

  • Upgraded or hybrid turbocharger
  • Larger intercooler
  • Upgraded intake system
  • High-flow exhaust system
  • Upgraded downpipe where legally permitted
  • Upgraded fuel pump
  • Larger or upgraded injectors where required
  • Upgraded charge-air system
  • Upgraded clutch or transmission
  • Upgraded engine cooling
  • Oil cooling improvements
  • Stronger engine components where required
  • Improved engine management and monitoring
  • Additional sensors / instrumentation where appropriate

Stage 3 calibration should be developed specifically around the hardware fitted to the vehicle rather than using a generic file.

Before Any Performance Remap

At KD Performance Tuning, we recommend checking the vehicle before increasing power or torque.

A vehicle with an existing mechanical fault may become unreliable when additional load is placed on the engine, turbocharger, clutch or transmission.

We can assess the vehicle and advise what supporting modifications may be appropriate for your intended performance level.

Every Vehicle Is Different

There is no universal Stage 1, Stage 2 or Stage 3 specification.

The modifications required depend on:

Engine • Turbo • Fuel System • ECU • Gearbox • Clutch • Cooling • Exhaust • Intended Power Output

Our aim is to achieve usable power, reliable torque and smooth drivability , while taking the vehicle's existing hardware into account.

Power Through Performance

How it works

Simple process designed around reliability and real-world performance.

1) Health Check

We start with diagnostics to ensure the machine/vehicle is suitable.

  • Fault codes
  • Sensor checks
  • Condition review

2) Read & Analyse

We read ECU data and match the approach to your workload.

  • Calibration review
  • Workload targets
  • Safe limits

FAQ

Quick answers to common questions.

Is tuning safe?

Safest when the vehicle/machine is healthy and the calibration is shaped responsibly for the workload.

Will I definitely save fuel?

Fuel savings depend on workload, routes, condition and driving style. Repeat routes and steady loads are best.
